control panel missing

nid help ..... fast

 

i just went their house and check the pc
program bar and task bar missing
can surf internet cannot dl and play games

its seems they instal a printer from hp and all above prob came abt
any help
its the same computer i just fix a week ago

is there a upgrading xp for win me

The XP upgrade recognizes 98,98SE,ME,and 2000.

If possible backup data they want to keep. Then wipe the drive (format)...Boot the XP CD...(keep the other OS disk on hand because setup will ask for it)... when asked you can select to use the current format or have it changed to NTFS. After that just follow the setup as instructed on screen.

Note: loading over ME doesn't always solve the problem. Your best bet is a clean install.

i can't go to dos how to scandisk and fix

 

repair it already
just went to mirc
make my own chanel
and type /run scanreg /fix
and the registry rebuild and its working fine
just giving a tip and lesson learn

 

Hmm, thats a bit of a roundabout way to do it. You dont need mIRC just to run commands!

Start -> run -> type "scanregw /fix" (for windows environmenti think?)

You can do it in command line safe mode too, that one saved my sox many a time on old machines which don't boot correctly. (but in command line its scanreg /fix)

 

well, the taskbar is missing and i cannot run it from run (even in safe mode)
