    Hello,
I can't get 'autorun' to stop for some reason. I've tried the usual method of 'X drive>autoplay>take no action' -but to no avail. The autorun works when physically inserting a disk to either physical CD Drive -and when 'mounting an image'.
Is this a known issue?: if so is there a workaround. If not are there any suggestions? -I'm willing to mes with the registry if that what i takes.
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

i dont have a link but search mg website for regscrupxp and if you install it there is a misc. option, which will allow you to shutoff the autorun.

    Good suggestion,
I may try it -but I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to disable it without resorting to software -not that I won't try it if worse comes to worse.
I'm just looking for a way that *I* could do it without 3rd party software. Thanks for the reply!

The manual method is to open My Computer, right-click on the drive, choose Properties, then the Autoplay tab. For each file association in the drop-down box at the top, you can choose "Take no action", which should disable Autoplay. You can allow it to boot install disks, but not music, or whatever you want to allow. Or kill them all. (Go through the same routine to restore autoplay associations later if you change your mind.)

If you are willing to use the software regedit.exe, then you can set the following registry DWORD key, which will disable the checking for new cds on all cd-drives both audio and data:

as drive properties doesn't seem to work I'll go with the regedit. Again thanks for the replies!
