Win xp can't access........

Hi

Win xp pro 500mhz
256 ram
20 gb hdd
broadband cable

I can't seem to get to n e programs from the desktop icons or through start menu when clicking to try to access all icons dissapear then re-appear with no program can acces through safe mode only just got rid of a load of viruses trojans all deleted by norton got some program in msconfigcalled bxxs5.dll i think this is spyware is this causing the probs....??

Ok psk im going to have to ask the obvious have you run updated spyware scans with Ad-aware and Spybot search and destroy

 

Hey psk, if you do have Spybot go to "mode" setting in its taskbar and select "advanced mode" (click "yes" when the box appears asking if you know what you're doing ) Then select (from the three listings in the lower part of the column to the left of the main window) "Tools". You will then see
a drop down list of stuff. Look for BHO (sixth down on the list) and click on it. It will show (in the main screen of SpyBot) a list of Browser Helper Objects it finds running on your pooter. There will be either a green check or a red triangle with an exclamation point to the left of each object. If your culprit appears there with a red warning, Spybot will give you the option of fixing or deleting it.
edit: I almost forgot . If there is a "danger" mark next to a BHO in the main frame, click on it and SB will tell you what it is and why it's suspect.
