Win XP Customized Picture on Folder

My brother does a lot of photo editing and saves pictures in multipe folders for organization purposes. He has a single thumb on the folder to help organize visually. He wants to backup the folders but when he copies the folder it doesnt keep the thumb, or the property of the thumb displayed on the folder. Anyone know where the properties of a specific folder are kept, and if its possible to copy those properties with the folder? Any assistance is much appreciated.
