Win XP Freeze

    Hi everyone:

    A friend has a start up issue with Win XP due to a "Security tool" virus.
    I don't have her specs, or if she has a backup of her system or virus protection.

    At startup, she receives a black screen and sometimes her Xp login.

    Suggestions?

    I am thinking a total reformat of her system and installing of Win XP.
