Win xp password

Somehow my daughter assigned me a password on windows xp pro and then forgot what it was. Now I am unable to log on. Is there any way to log on other than an os reinstall?

 

At the log on prompt, hit (in frustration ):

CTRL + ALT + DEL (2 times) I.E. Press and hold CTRL, then with the CTRL key pressed, hold down ALT, then with both those keys still pressed down, press DEL, do this two times is succession.

A username and password box appears.

For the username, type in:

administrator

for the password, just press OK (or hit enter).

This only works if the person who installed xp pro, installed it with default.

Then go to control panel, via settings, user accounts to setup a new password, or remove it.

OR

Just have your daughter log in with her account, and set a password or remove your password.

 

alternatively, (or if the above doesnt work rather) there is a way to get the password cracked for you online. It requires you to load something on a floppy disk and boot to it, then takes a few days. I'm not sure if this is the service i have used in the past, but it was a similar method and worked great for me. http://www.loginrecovery.com/
