Win XP Pro O/S install on Maxtor External Drive

    I'd like to take my Win XP Pro O/s install disk & install the operating system on my Maxtor 250 gig external drive. it's partitioned to hold backups & photo's but I can delete the partitions to make rm the the operating system. Can this be done & what do I specifically have to pay close attention to?
