Acer laptop with WinXP SP2 has some corruption to the registry such that odd things don't work anymore. I know that by reinstalling Windows I will not suffer these problems, however I do not have the install disk. Does anyone know, can I use a different XP disk with the origional key?

Yep- rosss is correct. Any XP Home CD will work, just use the key on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop.
