Win XP User Logon Issues

Win XP (SP3) with 3 password protected users

About 20% of the time when logging on, all I receive is the Wallpaper of the particular user without their respective icons or Task Bar. I need to click Alt-Ctrl-Del.... Shut Down.... Log-off, and start over. Usually I can successfully logon on the second or third attempt. After 3 years of problem free logon issues, this problem just started.

Windows is up to date, virus free... and I have run CCleaner and Defrag.

Any ideas???

Fortunately, the user had no important files to save. I ended up re-creating the user under a slightly different user name and everything works fine. However, I could not totaly delete the old user and files from either of the other two user accounts. All three were created as administrators with passwords. It appears to be deleting the account.... but simply stays in an endless loop.... so I just close out. Anyway... we now have 4 users but only access 3 of them. Thanks
