    Hello. Windows Security Center is telling me that ZoneAlarm firewall is currently turned off. Windows Firewall is off, and ZA is currently running. Is there any way to fix this problem without telling Windows not to monitor it?

    This Just Started today, did system restore; no joy there.
    WIN XP Pro SP2
    ZA Pro v5.5.094.000
    AVG AV v7.xxx

    More info;
    It Seems to be a Windows Issue. I Downloaded the latest update 6.1.737 did a clean install. Ran the setup wizard restarted my PC Windows does not recognize ZA pro. It (Win XP) asks if I would like to turn on Windows FW, I said yes, which causes a message "Windows can not turn on its firewall". But Windows shows their FW is On and ZA pro is functioning correctly

    Windows Security Center has a habit of not recognizing certain Firewall and A/V software. Personnaly, I would go by what your Firewall & AV software says, and turn off Security Center in Services.msc. Or just check the little box that says "I have a Firewall solution. I would like to monitor it myself."

    Brownizs;
    Thanks for the reply.
    I have done that, just looking for a repair solution, rather then a "work around". I was thinking in terms of a windows repair.

    There really is no "Repair" for Security Center or ZAP. It is the fact that Security Center does not work with every Protection software out there. Also it is not a "Work Around" to turn off Security Center in Services.msc. It just gets rid of the bug notice, and the fact that your A/V and Firewall software will notify you when things are out of date.

    Security Center was intended for the Computer Illeterate and it was something that Microsoft wanted to put out there to help newbies protect their machines. Funny thing is, it was cowrote with McAfee, Symantec, and Computer Assoc. in mind.

    Thanks for the info, I turned it off in Services.msc.

    Also, check SSDP discovery. I always turn it off on machines, due to it causes Systray icons to tend to dissapear when they are not supposed to.
