win xp -windowsinstaller error

when i start my comp, windows installer comes on and starts loading status,
looks for a disk , and then the window says status.msi could not be found ,, have to use ctrl+alt+del to closethe window,,,any ideas how to close this loop..

have you recently uninstalled microsoft office or done a fresh install of your OS ?? as this error is in relation to the Office installer, there is a fix available from MS here.....

just run the MS Fix it for your version of OS and hopefully this will stop the annoying prompt box appearing again.You can do this in safemode with networking (f8 on boot) if you are having issues getting into windows.

i dont have ms office,, ya my laptop was dormant for a yrr,,
i ran that prg,, but cud nt figure out wot to delete,, since thers no office,, theres outlook, and some visual c++ and some driver framework etc.

the flexera link is like greek for me:-(
so if ther s dome simple soln,, can try it,, else will live with it..
