Hi! I've been trying to format some CD-RWs as Live System on a Windows 10/64-bit laptop and ran into a problem every time: everything runs well until the last second: it stops at the very end, waits for a few minutes then displays a message box stating that the format couldn't be completed. It doesn't display an error message or code. It just says it can't finish the message. The drive is an external USB DVD/CD-RW drive. I don't know the model number but probably can find it in the Control Panel. Can somebody help me? :(

It could be that the laser lens needs cleaning and/or there might be a TINY speck of dust/debris on the writing surface of the CD.

BTW, the model # is MATSHITA UJDA760. :)

Well...it couldn't be the latter as several CD-RWs didn't work. I have a CD head cleaner, but I think it's at my home, and I'm at my mother's house right now. I don't think it would help the write head, though. Now, how do I clean that?

There are lots of decent guides to cleaning a CDRW drive, including the heads. Just google it.

    Uhh...can a regular CD cleaner clean a CD-RW write head? :)

Yes, a CD player cleaner can be used on a CDRW/DVDRW.

But, there's also the possibility that your drive is finicky about the media being used. For instance, I have 3 drives that I can't use Memorex media in — they always error out during verification of the burn. I have to use Verbatim media in those drives.

I'm sorry about the long-awaited response. It still doesn't work, but I can do the job on a laptop at my mother's house. :)

I'd look into replacing your optical drive since none of our suggestions worked.
