Win10 Forced Nightmare

I set my computer to only update what I approved yet Microsoft figured out a way to force it on me and my computer one "magical" day had updated to Win10. I wasn't a happy camper, but I resolved to buy Apple for my next computer and grin a bear it in the mean time.

I just finished getting rid of malware and cleaning up my system to remove what I no longer need. Right smack in the middle of something, I suddenly lost my internet connection. I did some investigating and I found that my Network adapter driver was gone, poof! This is like the 4th time this has happened to me. I've been blaming this on malware, but when you guys declare my computer as virus/Trojan/worm free...I'm beginning to think it's something to do with Win10. Note that all of the occurrences have been since my magical upgrade.

My network adapter is a Belcan N300, model F702102 USB adapter.

This is only about 6 mo old. My son did some investigation and told me that it is likely a Win10 problem causing this. Not only did I lose my wireless adapter driver, the USB ports went dark and wouldn't read the flash drive that my son had downloaded the driver onto.

I appreciate any help you can provide. I'm hoping you have an idea of what is happening to me.

You do have 30 days, from the date the Win10 update happened, to reverse it and it will use the files it saved in windows.old to do that, which should resolve your problem.
There were threads here including tools and guides to how to prevent, effectively, a Win 10 upgrade throughout the last year. It's unfortunate you weren't able to successfully follow them.

If you've been updated to the Anniversary update version of W10, you only have 10 days to rollback.

How to Rollback to your previous Windows version (if you're in time): http://www.cnet.com/uk/how-to/windows-10-how-to-roll-back/

EDIT: for your broken connection, assuming W10 'updated' your wireless drivers > Device Manager > Network adapters > Your Belkin > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver.

Meaning when your machine was upgraded to Windows 10, correct? Your MGlogs show a equipment age of about 7 years, if I'm right.

True, but every time I set my computer to not update without my approval, a new update came along that set my machine to automatically update. I gave up and decided to just go with it.

My machine is less than a year old. I purchased it in September of 2015. Some of my equipment is probably 6 yr old, but my wireless adapter is 3 mo. old at best.

My computer is an ASUS M11AD PC. I don't see a service tag number--where would I find that? Note that we upgraded the graphics card and memory before I even started using it. We were going to upgrade my old computer, but found that it had blown the power supply section of the mother board and decided it was better to just start with a new one. We used the components to upgrade this one hoping it would work better. It now has 12 G Ram and the graphics card is a NVidea GForce 610.

My apologies - I see what threw me off.

Unfortunately, that was never sufficient to stop the upgrade to Windows 10. At the minimum it required the installation of an actual program called GWX Control Panel, or a fairly simple Registry Entry to actually block any update to the Operating System itself.

As it turns out, Win 10 isn't the culprit. I happened to run my Avira scan over night and it showed I was infected with the Swizzor trojan and it affects the hardware that I've been having problems with. Having just gone through the malware purge, I thought I was critter free. I may have been, but I have a few people that like to email me junk and things tend to tag along. I try to just delete their emails, but it doesn't always work. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Glad you got it sorted out. If you have any future malware problems, the experts over in the MG Malware forum are great. They will always help.
