Took a quick look at this this morning. Impressive bit of work. Seems to be set up to sleep quite quickly and I'd like to change that but it doesn't seem to understand powercfg commands. Any ideas?

 

I've noticed power config lacking in several boot cd's. Haven't found a good answer . Sometimes I find the answers say not compatible with the motherboard or bios. Maybe in the amount of actual windows dll's or services built into the wim. Might be each motherboard's drivers needed. I do know it will run for hours and still be fine. This pe seems to be more capable than any I've tried. Could that be due to Win 10 being better? I think maybe so. It finds and installs drivers quicker and more often. Starts networks easier and the networks stay connected. Looking for another external drive to actually try some of the imaging and restore functions.

 

Yes, internet connected straight away but Teamviewer, which I wanted to use over the LAN, immediately hit an issue with it being version 6 where my laptop and PC Win 10 are on version 11. I'm not bothered about imaging as I've already got solutions coming out of my ears but it has successfully copied my VM virtual disks to an external as backups. When I try that in Windows it invariably fails though Puppy can do it easily enough. I read a bit of the author's Win 10 forum thread but soon got out of my depth. Do you know how to update any of the apps and build a new PE? That might transform it for me.

PS - EasyBCD boots it just fine btw, and a heck of a lot quicker than booting a DVD

 

I'll take a look at Modify WINPESE and see how well that works.

 

I was looking at the power config the last few minutes. I'm on it now on a wireless AE2500 and the in-built firefox. Able to change the sleep time and display and hard drive and others that I don't normally mess with. I do have to load drivers from my real 8.1 for ethernet , the linksys ae2500, and the smi controller which then turns on all the system devices and services including acpi for fan power button sleep and others.

I've been looking at other builds and for info on adding packages and drivers so I can put one together so I don't need to load these drivers every time and also my own cosmetics.
I took some screenshots- but I have to go to y real C: for Irfan64 to capture the print screens and save to my c:. I'd like to change that. It's a work in progress. My path is different than yours but headed in the same direction.

Found manyu discussions on how to add program files and also drivers - mostly using dis mount and unmount with commit. I'm still expermenting. To me it's just a hobby to also be learning too.

 

Easy BCD refuses to work on my 8.1 with gpt so I leave it alone. Soe disks I leave in secure and some I switch to legacy. On the 7 wit6h mbr it's just another boot. I believe updates can be done on a usb with just navigation but I'm looking to learn the way to rebuild it into the wims. Not necessarily this one but any of the ones I have

That's about where I am too, gardening, house maintenance and life permitting. I'll post anything interesting I come across but I can see this going on for weeks at least
