    Hi
I have just bought a laptop loaded with Win 10 Home 64 bit. It has a digital key I believe, Can I upgrade to Win 10 Pro for free?

Your digital key is embedded in the UEFI, it's tied to your machine AND Win 10 home. Because of this, you MAY have difficulty trying to upgrade.

My machine came with Win 8.1 Core and wouldn't install Win 8.1 Pro. I had to partition my drive and install Win 8.1 Pro on another partition.

You can download a Win 10 Pro ISO using the Microsoft Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and as MaxTurner said, you'd need to purchase a Product Key. But, they can be purchased for less than Microsoft charges ($99 for an upgrade key).

Thanksfor your reply, I find that very interesting. It seems the case that I will install Pro on a new partition
