Hi! I have a minor issue with my Win11/64 laptop: some programs start up that I don't want to start up. A browser starts up with the system, but I don't mind it starting up with the system, as the first thing I do on the system is surf the web, but the wrong browser starts up. Also, a sticky notes program starts up that I don't like, as I don't like its user interface. And I have a little worm called Worms Deskmate, and I want him to start up with my system. How do I manage start-up programs on my laptop?

Start the run dialog and enter the following command:

    “shell:startup” OR “shell:common startup”

Now simply add or delete whatever application is present in those two folders.

Right click Space bar and open Task Manager. Click the three bar menu icon top left and open Startup Apps. Right click any item to enable or disable.

Sorry for the stupid question, but what's Space bar?

The long key on the bottom row of the keyboard, the key you type a space with:rolleyes:

Oh. I misunderstood your reply. I thought you were saying right-click the space bar, not right-click then press the space bar. :(

I did, and the option doesn't appear. :(

Sorry, carelessly I didn't explain correctly. Right click the Taskbar, not the space bar. Apologies.

It gave me "Taskbar settings" and nothing else. :(

Your system isn't up to date then, but you can also access Task Manager by right clicking Start .

My computer is Win11/64, so I don't know why it didn't appear, but I did find the option and disabled a few things. Thanks! :)

It was added to the taskbar in either the last or previous update. My version 22H2.22621.1344 has it.

I don't think my system was updated in the last month. Maybe we have different editions of Win11.

If you are using Home then that's possible. I'm on Pro. But what is your version? Run > winver

    I believe I have Home.

Run > type winver. You sadly need a familiarisation session!

It is Home, version 21H2, Build 22000.1574.

Oh. :( How do I update it manually? It hasn't updated itself recently. :(

Seems your system is not compatible with the current version. Read HERE
