WIN2000 Pro

I have a system that I have reloaded Win2000pro a couple times over the years. Right now I have a single drive split into 3 partitions, windows is on c with 5gb, then a 3 gb d drive, then a 70gb e drive. I have reloaded windows on the c partition a couple times due to problems but now the c is too full. How can I wipe the c drive completely clean and reinstall windows without messing with the other drives. Thanks.

 

I would boot using a bootable floppy which has the format.com command copied onto it, then type FORMAT C:
This will completely clear everything from the C drive but leave the other two drives alone. You would then need to re-install windows onto the C drive.

 

The format command will only work if the partition is FAT32. If it's NTFS, a boot floppy won't recognize the partition. Use something like Partition Logic (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Partition_Logic_d4780.html) or Super FDisk (link: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Super_Fdisk_d4985.html) You can create a bootable disk (CD or floppy) and do all your partition formatting, wiping, resizing, etc., thru one of these apps... I've used Super FDisk for years and I love it...

I thought the Win2000 install CD allowed you to delete the C: partition and format it when you do a new install. LOL

Yes, it does. But last time I guess I just misread the instructions and did a repair/reinstall of Windows using the CD and Windows doubled in size which lead to my space problem on C.
