Win2000 Programs List

I would like my Start\Programs menu to behave like Win 98. I really dislike the constant scrambling of the Program list. I am always having to search for progams as they move all over the list. Also dislike the showing of the first 6 last programs used concept. I would like to see the full menu each time and in the order I choose. Does anyone know how to change the settings for this part of Windows 2000?

 

Hmm. I have no idea how to fix that. In fact, I didn't know there was a setting for it. On both my Win 2K machines, the menu has always stayed in the order I put it.

I'm sure some expert will chime in and solve your problem.

I have been watching for assistance on this annoying problem for some time. Yours is the only response. It appears no answers are available. I will have put up with the poor Win2000 interface. I am sure there must be setting somewhere that control this function, but I can't find them. There are setting for everything else. Oh well. I guess it is the way of Win200Pro.

 

Right click task bar, hit properties and uncheck "use personalized menus".

Well don't I feel dumb. I passed over that menu so many times and never tried that box. Must be having a brain meltdown or something. I unchecked the box and all is as I had hoped. Thanks for your tip. This function has been annoying me for a long time.
