Win2kPro - Services.exe trouble

Greetings, i just found my way to these forums recently, I have been having trouble lately with Services.exe acting up. It will cause my computer to freeze and take up 100% system resources while it does this. It has lasted for up to 5 minutes at the longest time. It seems to happen when windows, doesn't know what program to use to open a file, but it also happens at random.

I think it may happen because it is searching on the hard drives or something. Has anyone else ran into this problem before? Any suggestions or Ideas on how to solve this?

I believe this problem started after I added a 3rd hard drive to my system.

Im no expert, but i have a clue... although it is very 'small' at times about computers =) they are a hobby of mine that I do enjoy. Look forward to maybe finding a solution

i would post my full system specs, but i dont feel like looking up what i dont remember it is a hand built machine by myself... if it would help to know more about the hardware i will post ltr, just let me know

 

Firstly
check the services.exe file should be in the c:\windows\System32 folder. In other cases, services.exe is a virus, spyware.
If it's somewhere else read these 2 before continuing

If the other partitions in your system is formatted with NTFS and the 3rd HDD contains partitions using FAT16/32, then this change of behavior might be cause by the Indexing Service being configured to index FAT16/32 partitions.

I have the indexing service turned off, i thought that my have been the problem too before, it wouldnt randomly turn itself on would it? Just incase i turned it from manual to Disabled

i did a search for services.exe and i got a hit in C:/ said there was a services.exe with 0bytes of data... should i worry about that?
