Got a nasty little infection from Win32/Parite.b, and was able to remove it using the AVG Win32/Parite removal tool listed here: http://free.avg.com/virus-removal.ndi-67768

The only side effect I'm noticing now is that a few games I play will no longer connect to their networks. of course I had to reinstall and repatch the games since the exe's were corrupted and wouldn't pass checksums, but now two games, Diablo II and Warcraft 3 (and the expansions for both) will no longer connect to battle.net. Another game, World of Warcraft, works just fine.
Same issue happened to another networked computer that got infected, but a third networked computer that was not infected works just fine. I would really like to avoid having to reformat these two PC's as this was just done to remove the nasty little Virtumonde spyware, and it takes about 4 hours to reinstall WoW for no apparent reason on these machines.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The removal of PE file infectors like Parite, often leave a PC in a very unstable/unknown state. There could be many corrupted or missing system files and also many missing or corrupted files for everything else you have installed on your PC. Due to this, the proper approach is really to delete partitions, recreate partitions, format and reinstall. This is the only way the PC will be reliable again. It's your choice and what you would like to do but we cannot help you fix your games. They will have to be reinstalled and all patches and files related to the games and updates and tweaks...etc will have to be reloaded since they may have been corrupted by the infection. In addition, any files that are not part of the games ( i.e., files that are from the Windows OS or other ) but are used by the games may need to be replaced.

You could try running SFC as shown below. It may or may not help completely with your system files.

Click Start, Run, and enter sfc /scannow and click OK. There is a space after the sfc. This runs System Rile Checker which looks for missing or corrupted system files and attempts to replace/repair them from files on your hard disk or from the CD if necessary. So it will ask for the Windows CD if it needs it.

By the way, it is not necessary to format to remove Vundo infections. They are not that difficult to remove. Just running our standard cleaning procedures normally removes almost all of the problems from Vundo.

Quite obviously I'm not just trying to fix games, but an underlying problem in windows. Had you a brain you may have finished reading what I said, and that I've already reinstalled/patched games, and the issue is not with the games but with windows not allowing them to connect to servers.
I was only posting here in case anyone else ran into this issue with this virus and was able to fix whatever was wrong, didn't need you to to use your copy+paste fix it guide with a few words changed =-(

Oh, and btw, there is no need to deleted/re-partition anything when you reinstall/reformat. Dork. ty for your worthless reply!

Not true and if you knew anything about malware at all you would know this. But since you believe you know everything, you don't need our help and would not listen to it anyway.
