I downloaded a file called StrCodec 8.0 and all hell has let loose. Popups, computer slowing down, screen in segments on right side (makes it hard to read)
Ran Adaware and it shows Virus Blast.
Tried to uninstall programs however wondow pops up saying I need to shut down the computer before I uninstall.
I have ran Adaware several times however the Trojan stays.
Somehow Spyware Doctor 4.0 is in my programs however I did not download it.
    Any help will be appreciated.
I will try and send the log as you request.
I have people telling me I have to format.
Others say just get rid of a .dll file.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Before we send you off on a long set of cleaning procedures that may not be necessary. Update your Ad-Aware definitions to the current version and run a new scan. They were reporting false detections on this until the recent update came out. So let's make sure you have a TRUE detection first before we go any further.

Do not listen to people who tell you to format! They don't know what they are talking about. Formatting is rarely required to remove malware issues and contrary to what many people suggest, it is not necessarily faster to format and reinstall than it is to fix the malware problems.

    Thank you Chaslang!

I went into the Registry and deleted every file that Ad-Aware ID'd!

Then I went to Safe Mode "command prompt" and went to the directories and deleted all files where they were listed.

Then I restarted windows and ran SpyBot Search & Destroy then Ad-Aware the SpyBot...then Adware until nothing came up.

I downloaded both programs from your website.
I am going to run Ad-Aware one more time tonight.

I am going to look for a donation link on your page for next Friday.

Thank you is not enough for your web site.

    :)

You should not be going into the registry to delete anything manually and it should really not be necessary. Ad-aware should be able to remove what it finds. Much of which was probably just cookies and MRUs which are not problems. And as far as Virus Blast was concerned, you just need the current definitions files for Ad-Aware SE. They had a false positive problem a week ago.
