    i ran bitdefender. it found the worm but would not remove it. it also found another file it could not remove. it was backdoor.eggdrop.v. i am running panda active scan right now, but i am on dial up so it will probably take all night to scan.

    You also might want to boot into safe mode, tap the f8 key when booting, choose safe mode with networking when prompted. Also disable system restore during this, it might be locked in there.

    thanks, i will try this after the panda scan finishes. after rebooting which scans do i need to run

    I would bail out now, reboot, then scan. If system restore is on and your in regular Windows mode, files may be locked you can not remove. Being on dial up, you dont want to do this twice :)

    P.S This virus appear to come from p2p software, uninstall anything like Limewire, Kazza that may be used to share files.
