    i think i am finally burning out on solving random annoyances with windows computers.
    so i am hoping some one will just say... hey dummy, just do this and it will be all ok :)

    basically, i had to connect our formerly wireless network printer, to my mom's computer, vis USB, { oops, forgot to add -> my mom's computer is win7 pro 64bit }
    so that every one could print again. in so doing, i created a 2nd user, with a password, so that
    connecting and printing would just work, and that it does.

    but my mom has to login now, where before, the computer would just boot into the desktop.
    it's not a big deal, but i was hoping to fix it for my mom.
    i was trying to find out which of the system tweakers i could use, that would show me :
    these are the different users, choose which one to automatically login.
    and that's it, for her computer, i don't care about any of the other tweaks.
    there are loads of tweakers out there, but my brain is freezing over while reading through all of them.

    wireless stopped being useful at the house a few months ago. and despite new equipment from at&t, and having several visits from their technicians, wireless just doesn't work anymore, even in near proximity to their equipment. you can connect wirelessly, but there are now too many issues to make it useful. who knows.

    anyway, thanks.

    I can confirm the above works. I did this on our four Win 7 computers. The only people who have access to these are me and my husband. We are two senior citizens with no children nor obviously grandchildren.

    You might also take a peek at this: remove password required on wake from sleep. For some unknown reason, one of our computers decided recently that it wanted a password when it woke up. It was a pain digging through my notes to discover what the password was on that computer.
    Go to Control Panel and select Power Options.
    In the left pane click on "Require password on wakeup". Under password protection on wakeup, select "Change settings that are currently unavailable.".

    That's odd. Did you "Add" a user? And if you did, do icons for both the original user and the user that you added appear when you restart? If they do, then you mom should click her icon when she wants to use the computer. (Just kinda thinking out loud...)
