Hi! I find Win7 to be better than Win11 in someways. It seems to have a more attractive and functional GUI in that it looks better and has more options to tweak than Win11, i.e. it has more color choices than Win11 and does more when displaying windows. It also has more features in Windows Explorer, and I prefer the new-drive-handling. What's your opinion?

Me, personally, the only thing I liked about Windows 7 was its manageability over a domain, and that was only in comparison to Windows XP. Windows 10, when we got it, was easier to deal with than 7. Appearance-wise, I prefer 11 over 7, but I still miss the GUI of 98SE.

I loved Windows 7 my pc started it's life with Windows 7 and then I went to Windows 8 in which I couldn't get use to the gui with the apps/desktop screen then finally upgraded to Windows 10 and still like it to this day. Not tried Windows 11 as my PC is too old to run Windows 11 so I can't comment on it.

I loved win 7 -- easy to tinker, easy to fix.

I'm not a fan of huge interface changes - as you can tell by the Website - which is why I'm not a big 11 guy.

Well I'm old so I get along with win7 just fine. The heck with this new fangled stuff.

I have Win11 on my home laptop, and the laptop was made in the early days of Win11. It works fine. The reason I posted this thread is that I find Win7's GUI to be better and more functional: it does more to display windows and has more color choices.

I'd better try all that. :) My quarrel with Win11's GUI is not that it's newer but that it's less elaborate. Win7 does more to draw windows and has more color selections: it has several window elements for which to choose colors, while Win11 only has dark or light themes.

I have to admit that I was mostly wrong about Win11's GUI: last night, I tried some Win11 themes, and they did better than I thought they would. :)

I've switched back to 7 recently, primarily because it looks good, I can't stand the modern dystopian corpo designs. As far as internal changes, Windows 8-10 were definitely an improvement - the DXGI FLIP models, more precise timing APIs, better support for trackpads, bluetooth, etc. - as a programmer I would prefer the latest Windows 10 core. But the UX of those systems is just so crap that it's not worth it. And they ported Platform Update to Windows 7 which has one of the FLIP models, so I'll try using that soon see how it works.

I also prefer the Win7 GUI: Win11 is dull and less featured.
