Win7 Doc, Photo etc Files lock

Good day

Suddenly I have little locks appearing against these files on my W7 Professional and can not access. I have administrator rights bar special permissions yet I still can not get in.I need to access the docs especially as I am away . Any assistance bar recommending a stick of dynamite would be appreciated. Thanks

The document files are either a PDF,RTF,or a few openoffice docs usually as Win Off files. The pics are jpg and no music or video files.All the documents have been created by me other than the pdfs which are mainly downloads.

Sorry I did not answer fully. It is the folder that is locked and I can not get in to the docs etc.ButI know that the extensions mentioned are correct.I will have a look at the MS site you gave in case there is something that can be done.

Thank you for your post. When I opened up this time I clicked on my Administrator file ,which still shows a lock symbol and wonders it opened allowing me to get to the files. I am still not sure that everything is right
as I have an feeling that some files have disappeared. However I will see
what I can do in that regard. So thanks to all who replied.

 

The lock symbol on the folder can be quite confusing. If you unhide all files and folders, you'll see a folder named System Volume Information. It has no lock symbol... but you can't open it. :confused And then there are folders with the lock symbol that can be opened. It all depends how the permissions, Allow/Deny, have been set.
And beware of CryptoLocker and CryptoWall malware.
