I'm ashamed to be asking this, but I've just formatted and installed Win95 on a friend's old, old Packard Bell D135, 133MHZ, 16MB RAM. I know--it's an antique, but she's going to let her young son use it.

It's been AGES since I worked with Win95, but here's my stupid question: Doesn't Win95 support any images other than *.bmp and *.dib? I've tried to set a .jpg as wallpaper and it acts like it doesn't know what a .jpg is.

Please don't laugh at me guys. I'm past 50 and I forget what I learned the day before sometimes. LOL

    Thanks

hmm, if i remember right, it's got to be a .bmp for the wallpaper? although, it's been a while since i've messed with 95. just open it with something, and try and save it as a .bmp. -sos

Windows has always required bitmaps as background images. Unless of course you turn on active desktop. Then you can also use jpegs. Of course I've never turned on active desktop anyways since it's just a waste of ram that can can save by resaving an iamge as a bitmap. HD space is less important to me then ram.
