Win98- Can't open attachments in E Mail

My lady friend is too shy to ask directly, so I got nominated. She can't open attachments in Outlook Express, nor can she save pics in jpeg any more; only in bmp. She has the original Win98 disc. Is there something she can restore via System File Checker--if so, what name? Or is there another solution? Thanks.

 

Tell her to empty the Temporary Internet files, that should solve the .jpeg issue.

Check the setting below for Outlook Express and then try it.

1. Start Outlook Express.

2. On the Tools menu, click Options.

3.Click the Security tab, uncheck Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus option under Virus Protection, and then click OK.

Are you talking about the link I posted for her? How to Delete the Contents of the Temporary Internet Files Folder

If so, YES. You should do that off and on, it gets cluttered up and can cause alot of problems.

There is an option under the advanced tab, of tools and options that will empty the temp internet folder every time you close IE.

Thanks, Brewmeister. But she is still having trouble with her pics. They all come out as bmp. I am not sure if that makes a big difference or not, but it bothers her. I am thinking that she wants to post a pic somewhere and they will only accept jpeg. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks
