    First let me say...
THANKS to whom ever replies to this for me

ALL you Major Geeks fourm team players ..
Are the TOPS!! on the World Wide web!...
i say that with all honesty..

and i ALWAYS!! have and ALWAYS will
refer everyone i know to your Door step...(hope you don't mind)

    anyways...:p
    here goes..

Yeah i Really do love my Win98..
the first OS i ever owned..
from my first ever E-mail...to my first Abit KT7-raid system i built..

im silly i have a Xp system it still has SP1 on it..lol...
i never use it..its been sitting collecting dust for years..lol..

    oop!!...sorry..got off the point here..

    yeah SuperAntiSpyWare..

i have a old version of Avg installed 7.5.557
    better then nothing i guess...
last updated Virus data base 270.12.11/2089 release date 4/30/09...

so i started reading thinking i should see if i can get something a little more up to date for 98..(before its to late to even use win98 anymore)..

i started reading in your fourm here..
    link
Windows 98 and ME Cleaning Procedure

i also have Ad-Aware installed (500+ days since last update)
    forgot to mention that....sorry..

that first link i went to on the Windows 98 and ME Cleaning Procedure

    was for SuperAntiSpyWare
    here...
    link
    installing and running SUPERAntiSpyware

the 2 pages i read so far...
im pretty sure said nothing about..
if i should remove any Anti-Virus software or Spy Ware software
that i might already have installed on my system..
    before i try installing SuperAntiSpyWare...

do i have to do that????...

PLUS when i went to your link for the SuperAntiSpyWare DOWNLOAD..
    Here..
    link

    Download SUPERAntiSpyware

your information on your SAS download page says
    Requires: Win 2000/03/08/XP/Vista/7 ...
    BUT!!!!!
when i went to the SuperAntiSpyWare WEB Page
    Here..
    link
What operating systems is SUPERAntiSpyware.com software compatible with?

    and it says...
SUPERAntiSpyware.com software is compatible with Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP Home/Professional, 2003, and Vista.

im wondering if you might need to change your dowload page info..
because their web page says it DOES support 98...
and it does NOT say that it supports 7..

yeah..do i have to uninstall my other software before installing?..
AND is their system requirements info right..or is yours?

OMG!!! sorry about the little book here..
just wanting to try and be thorough...and have you understand what im trying to ask here...

let me say again..THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP
and taking the time replying here..
    ...yeah thank you so much!!!!..
    ..

    1. Remove the old version of AVG. It is taking up space and not protecting you since it is no longer updated for your OS.
    2. Remove AdAware for the same reason.
Having outdated security software gives you a false sense of security.
    3. Install Spywareblaster
    http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html
you won't notice anything - it prevents things from getting on your computer; it does not do real time monitoring.
    4. Install Avast! http://majorgeeks.com/Avast_Home_Edition_d1968.html
    5. Install Superantispyware http://majorgeeks.com/SUPERAntiSpyware_d5116.html

Do you have any idea how many programs are available at majorGeeks for downloading? The two owners TEST EVERYTHING. So, yes, it is possible that not everything is up to date - they do eat and sleep. ;)

There is a report button. If you press that and add your comment, someone will get to it ; test it and update the information.

    Hey plodr..
thanks!!! so much for replying to my question buddy..

yeah i will research and read up on those advised programs you suggested..
and get to work on getting those programs installed..
    ..
yeah the false sense of protection is why i started to finally get around to getting some other protection that i could get, that is still updateable..
    (lol..is updateable a word?..)
    anyways..

    (off note)..lol..
    i didn't think super heros ever slept..:p

yeah Plodr thanks so much for starting me out in a good direction..

May also consiber adding MalwareBytes to your scanning defenses.
Along with SuperAntiSpyware, they make a great combination.
I also have an older IBM (P3 CPU) with Win98 that SuperAntiSpyware runs just fine on.

Malwarebytes doesn't work on 98 - it's my favorite and the first thing I checked.

The three I mentioned will work on 98. It is getting harder to find apps that still run on 98.

From the malwarebytes page. Your link is for version Version 1.34 at 2.74MB. This version is from February 11, 2009
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=11184
Now the question is, "will malwarebytes support an older version?".
If not, then it isn't getting updated definitions and it really isn't protecting the computer.
