Win98 Users-AVG AntiRootkit

Just to let other Win98 users know that AVG AntiRootkit 1.0.0.13 Beta does not work. I tried it and it rejected the application. Whovian33

Although I generally no longer test most "beta" products; I have heard this one mentioned in several computer-related forums that I attend. I have also noticed that since it was first released; some freeware listings sites list this Grisoft AVG Anti Root kit Beta program as OS: Windows XP compatible only (i.e. 1 2) and some sites like Major Geeks, list it as compatible for all Windows operating systems.

Unfortunately, the reality is that more and more software companies and developers are ending future support for Windows 98/98SE and Win ME primarily because of the fact that these older Windows operating system versions are no longer 'updatable' at the Microsoft site.

For example, as far as compatibility goes; Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 have gone pretty much the way of the dinosaurs, and unfortunately that'll eventually happen to Windows 98/98SE/ME as well.

Note: BTW along with AVG Anti Root kit; there are many free and beta "root-kit" detection/removal programs out there. Check out this link: Rootkit Detection & Removal Software.
