OS Win98SE: Every time I bootup, I get two error messages on the desktop screen. These are: AU30setup "Failed to add Blaster to autoexec.bat" & AU30setup "Failed to add DOSSTART to autoexec.bat". I just click OK on them and the messages go away and the PC works OK. I suspect it has something to do with my sound card? I haven't had any problems with the sound, however it is annoying. I have a Diamond Monster Sound card Viper 550. How would I go about finding this problem? I need a clue as to how I should start looking. THX

Do you still have your soundcard install software. Maybe you should uninstall and reinstall that software.

Also try a google search for your make and model of sound card for additional info.

I would visit the website of the sound card folk and see if there are more up to date drivers avaialable. One of these 3 suggestions should help solve your problem for the soundcard.

As for the DOSSTART error. This is not a normal requirement for starting W98SE. Have you any further info about it. Any idea what program it might relate to?

From START---RUN, type in msconfig and press enter. Go to Startup tab and look at all that appears there. Maximise the screen for full display. Something there may give you a clue. Bazza
