Win98SE - reset I.E and now appears like fresh install.

Hello fellow Geeks.:wave

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this one before.

Have been deleting stuff of an old ex-training unit running 98se - no system files.
Thought i would reset to the default I.E. settings, using the I.E reset option, when I did this I noted none of the regular outlook for the hotmail or other default programs for I.E appeared..hmph I thought.. somewhat bizare I'll restart to see if it wasn't a glitch.

The next thing I know its like its a fresh 98 install where you enter in the user name company details and progress's to the prompt for the CD key...you what:confused was the next thought.

Have gotten around that - F8 at start up and using and at the C:\ command prompt and typing in scanreg/restore.:-D

Just wondering If anyone know's why this has occured its a bit of a worry.
I.E version 6.1 with 128bit encryption.
O/S 98 SE

Hello fellow "Gee"...hmm...wonder what this does..."eek!"

No Worries regarding this issue, as the system also just hung in the display properties when changing the desktop background..dont know if active desktop had somepart to play with this issue, but couldnt trust the unit to be stable so "sh*t canned" with a nice format C: and fresh install. At least I know where i stand from this point onwards and can get on with the job.

Sometimes trouble shooting can be more trouble & time than a fresh image or install.
