Winapi: Executing External Program From C Application?

Hi! I recently asked 0nline about creating and modifying Apple2 emulation disk images from Windows 98 batch files. After a little discussion there, I discussed Template Creator for Windows and that I use it to create new disk images. Then, I had a thought that I could create a batch file that would create the disk image as fed to it and add it to the ShellNew menu. Then, I had a thought that I could create a front-end to the Apple2 disk image editor, allow the user to select different options, such as the size, the label, the OS supported and any programs to add to it. Then, I thought to do the same for CBM disk images. One question: I have Open Watcom C, which only handles the basic WinAPI. How do I run another program from the front-ends? I need to run a command-line utility but may soon want to run another GUI application from it.

 

I just tried MSDN and came up empty-handed. If I find information on the disk image formats, I won't need to run other programs, but I may soon want to run other programs for similar purposes. BTW, I just remembered that my ExomDia program does this but runs a command-line program. I'd better peruse it. Another question: I created a program that writes batch files for the purpose of compiling programs for a C compiler that doesn't have an IDE. How do I perform binary and random-access file operations using C and the WinAPI?

 

I studied my notes and found the CreateProcess() function. I need to search MSDN for its definition. Again, I also wrote two programs that write to ASCII text files. What about binary files or random-access writing?
