WinASO detected errors

Whenever I open internet explorer with MSN homepage and I use my free version of WinASO 4.6.0.it detects 1-3 errors (thats without having visited any sites).
These errors are always the same ones:
    custom controls
    deep registry scan
    invalid active x

I use the Trend Micro Titanium internet security (2011) and have contacted them to ask whether this was a sign that someone had bypassed the security software and gained access to my computer.
The reply was that they had no idea and requested a copy of the error page.
I tried every way I know but this version of WinASO would have none of it.

I should add that my computer runs perfectly (XP) and that I have not encountered any other problems.
Has anyone else had the same or can someone explain what is going on since my knowledge in this area is limited.
Any help would be much appreciated.

My regards and thanks for reading this. Bert rolleyes

Well, quit using it. WinASO is something that has been noted to not be system friendly, and not worthwhile. What exactly are you trying to achieve in running WinASO?

    Thank you for the advice.
In other words, ignore the problem and it will go away. Strange way to resolve anything me thinks.
And there was me thinking that errors are shown for a purpose.
As far as WinASO is concerned, I never had problems with it before.
    Perhaps I'm just imagining it.
Well, I don't expect to hear anything useful after this.
    Thanks !:wave

    Hi,

By definition, starting a Web browser and going to a home page constitutes "visiting a site": After all, you're not hosting MSN locally, right? And even if you were, it still would be considered visiting a site, only one that is local to you instead of being on the Internet.

I'd start with the simple things. Clear the browser cache, restart the browser: Do you get the same errors?

If so, change the default home page to another site, or better, to a blank page, restart the browser, and see if the errors are triggered again.

If they aren't, then I'd go to MSN and see what happens. If the errors occur, then the problem is with MSN and WinASO - contact them both and let them iron it out.

In any event, the steps above should give you enough information to start narrowing down the source of the problem.

I don't think that brownizs was saying "ignore the problem" so much as he was saying exactly what he did: "WinASO is something that has been noted to not be system friendly, and not worthwhile." and that based on the symptoms tracking down the problem may be more trouble than it's worth, especially if they're confined to one site, as you seem to imply.

It's entirely possible, even probable, that the issue is an interaction between something the MSN site is doing now and WinASO. Web pages change all the time, and not always for the better.

The fact that you've never had problems with it before doesn't mean that there's no problem now (Nor that there won't be in the future), and in fact quite the opposite: Obviously there is a problem of some kind, otherwise you wouldn't be posting...

In any event, you can troubleshoot this yourself as I've already detailed.

Finally, although it's difficult sometimes to determine tone from posts, and I apologize in advance in the unlikely event that it wasn't your intent, but your last one seems to be more than a little sarcastic and dismissive.

The people that offer assistance here do so on their own time, unpaid, because they wish to help others.

You should keep that in mind when you're asking for help and cultivate some graciousness when you disagree with their advice.

    Regards,

    dj
