    Hi,

I just got a new laptop computer and it has been about 16 days. Last weekend everything was fine. Today I tried to browse and none of my internet explorer could connect to the Internet. I check my Internet on my other machine, on the same network, and it was fine. I open a cmd window and could ping google and other sites, so my machine is connected, but the browser would not let me browse. I am new to Windows 7 so I am not sure what is going on. I have tried IE, Mozilla, and Chrome and they all have the same can't connect problem. When I do diagnose the problem Windows say there is no problem. I have check my firewall setting and its is turn off and it say I am on my home network (I think). I am not 100% sure because I am not a Window 7 expert. I was also able to update windows via hoping that would fix it but no good. I run with Spyware Doctor and did a scan and it did not fine any viruses. Any ideas? Thank you in advance for any help offered.

    Hi,
What is the result of "ipconfig /all"?
Also you can try to issue "ipconfig /release", followed by "ipconfig /renew".

You need to run from the same command window.

    Thank you.

All the ipconfig in the cmd line works fine. I can also use internet apps like vent and stuff, just the browse is not working. Anyway I gave up on figuring out what happen to cause the issue and just went back to a safe restore point. It will be a mystery on how this happen, but for now, I will bear the grunt work on reinstalling stuff. Thanks for the help though.

Try the ipconfig /release command, followed immediately by ipconfig /renew (in the same cmd window) that the previous person recommended and let us all know how that turns out.

I already did a restore to get my system working again, but like I said in my previous post, the /release /renew works. I did it in the same cmd window and it behave how it should, it release my ip address and the renew grab a new IP address. THis problem is looking more and more like a virus as last weekend my son said the system got super slow, so he rebooted and then lost browser Internet again. I went back to the restore again to get it working fast as I didn't have time to look into it more. I will probably visit the virus forum here and do the standard sweep and see what people can see. I have a virus checker on the machine and nothing pop up so I am surprise the machine got infected.
