Window 8.1 Limited Connectivity

My daughter's laptop updated to Windows 8.1 (without her permission) and now she cannot connect to our wifi. I have tried everything on the following page, some of them twice) including deleting our home wireless profile via a command prompt.

Her internet worked VERY briefly and promptly disappeared.

I took the computer to Best Buy, where it surfed on their wireless like nothing was wrong. I came home - back to not working.

We are desperate for a solution. Thanks for any help.

 

Prime candidate must be the wifi adapter driver. As she has no internet connection has she found some other way to update the driver, such as using an Ethernet connection?

Can she see other devices on the home network? If not it makes the adapter driver firm favorite.

 

We followed the instruction to roll back the driver on the webpage link I provided as well as at this Dell link. That gave her very brief connection. We also downloaded the driver from Toshiba (It's a Toshiba Satellite) and installed it. No change. She immediately falls back out. I should also mention it doesn't matter what browser she uses and we did a System Restore, but that failed.

What I don't understand it why it's only at home she has this problem. All our other computers and wireless devices connect just fine, plus we have cable telephone. No problems. The associate at Best Buy surfed on her computer, said she saw no problem connecting.
