    Hello guys,

I have had my computer for just over a year. But last month it the motherboard decided to melt on me.
Anywho everything elce works FINE so i have sold it all and kept my Hard Drive.

I shoved it into my mums computer as i am using that as tempory now. All was working fine but i got the message saying that i needed to re activate windows, as it has detected a totally new hardware configuration.

But windows worked fine i had 5 days to reactivate it was just like a fresh re-install...

But i forgot to reactivate it and now i cannot log it untill i activate my OS.

The problem is that then i click the 'yes' i will activate now. i get the window pop up to activate.

But all i get is is a blank window frame. Like when your computer is at high cpu useage and you try to open the internet for example. I get the window frame with the x, minimise and maximise button but nothing in the middle.

I can log on safe mode. is there any way i can actiavte my windows through safe mode?

    Please help me guys.
    thanks in advance

What kind of machine was the hard drive in before? Alot depends on whether this is an OEM or retail copy of Windows!

Manually register the Jscript.dll and Vbscript.dll files. To do this, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, in the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.

At the command prompt, type the following commands, and press ENTER after each command:

    regsvr32 jscript.dll
    regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Close the command prompt. Now, see if you can open the activation window.

Hey man, there's never any need to apologize for giving good advice! Especially when it is something different.

Noo, Noo, I built my computer last year from start search through my old posts to find out. Also my sig is the specs of my old pc i took the Hard Drive out of.
The copy of windows is from a disk, all is new and fresh no make no OEM Dell no Compaq etc. Just retail Windows XP Home.

BUT the after it my old computer melted because i overclocked it too much :cry i have taken out my hard drive that was / is working fine and simpily shoved it into my mums computer.

All is working fine but the stipid re-activation window doesnt fully appear.

    Ahhh, I see...

I only mentioned it because I have had very similar symptoms trying to do the same thing with an OEM copy of Windows installed on the hard drive. It's not SUPPOSED to work, as the OEM license is for one machine only. (At the time, I didn't know that - back then, a license was a license was a license to me) But, since this isn't the case, I would try Matacumbie's suggestions. (they should work in safe mode) They're pretty specific, which makes me think he has a good idea of what might be happening.

    Good luck!
