Alright, I just started getting the parts together for my first home build system, and I had always just seen the profesional mods that I could obviously never do so the thought never really crossed my mind. Well, my friend shows me all the smiple and good looking consumer mods, and in honor of my online gaming name, I am going to paint my case red, install some nice red lighting, get a red mouse pad and a red MX510 in honor of my username Vash. Now, all of that is pretty simple in execution, but the window on my case seems to be needing some sort of applique with the Trigun anime theme, and since no one makes such a thing I was wondering if someone could enlighten me on ways to create my own window appliques.

I have a raidmax midtower with the blade design on the side and the pre-modded window. so since there is something already running through my window, I was just also seeing if anyone has an idea that knows the anime of a custom applique to try. On the other side I plan on painting my online name in grey on top of the red.

Comments, ideas, and suggestoins are all welcome.

Also, I had an idea after previewing this post, I might want to try taking my signature text, and then trying to make it a transparent grey run it across the window.

If you gave me the dimensions of the window, I could probably knock up a PDF file to work as a templete, which you could then cut out with a scapel, then use an etching spray to spray over it, thus etching the window with the design.

Make sure you get the right etching spray for the plastic you use (plexi probably, thats what most people use for windows).

I do know of some people that have access to a CNC milling machine that will let you mill the surface off the plexi to a high degree of accuracy, and so I could put you in contact with them if you prefer to have a better effect.

You can also use "layering" in which you have two or more templetes, so you get different levels of etching (some parts are more etched than others) so you get some sort of shading.

Also another cool trick for lighting windows is to embed a LED into the side of the window and light it, the etched stuff glows :D its kinda cool.

Hope that gives you some ideas :)

I think I am going to try having the image printed on a film that has one side adhesive, so I will see how that works out and then move on. Thanks for your help though, I will probably try that next. ^_^

The idea about the LED's placed in the edge of the glass does make some very nice soft lighting. Sat place a blue on one side then red on the opposing edge, you'll get a nice purple glow towards the center. Then you can make it sound activated or at least adjustable for how much light you want.
