I have 3 window updates that request to be added when signing off. I let them download but the same ones come up the next time I startup. How can I do away with these. So far nothing has worked. I ran 360 Security and received these messages. Microsoft.Net framework 3.5 'Sp1 and .Net
    framework 2.0 Sp2 - Secirotu i[date for .Net framework 2.0 sp2 and 3.5
Sp1. Any ideas. I appreciate all your work.

    Thank you,'

Are you attempting to install in Windows XP ?

    What S.O do you have?

I guess you could manually download the updates from the Microsoft Update Website and attempt to install manually.

Use this tool to remove failed installs of Net.Framework of Microsoft. http://majorgeeks.com/.NET_Framework_Cleanup_Tool_d6179.html

Read the info at above link carefully and follow the instructions.

Then download all of them Net.Framework again. Good luck!!

BTW, some software require the above to function correctly so it's best to download them and not trying to get rid of them. ;)

I am sorry I am quite up in age and don't understand what a SO is and I am not installing windows xp. It is already on my computer. I always rely on Major Geeks support to help me with my computer problems. I do thank you for trying to help me.

    Hi Wadda,

I think the reference to S.O. is possibly a mistake, should read O/S or O.S. as in Operating System? So he's requesting to know if you're running Win 98, 98SE, XP, XP-Pro, Win 2000, Vista etc. Knowing this gives helpers a better understanding of what the actual situation is that you're facing.

Microsoft & Windows were both pestering me, too. They both had suggested 'Updates' that I didn't want. After refusing them every time computer booted for several days they changed tactics. At shutdown a popup window would open, 'Microsoft Updates are ready to install, choose: 'Express Install' [suggested] or 'Install Later', but no way to see what these updates or programs were! I shut off that update software.

The other choice: now that they are downloaded to your computer an installer has been activated, it assuming after download you would wish to install them. If you are sure you do not, then delete the downloaded items and that should stop the installer from activating.

And hey, MORE POWER TO YA! Bravo on your many years, and hoping for many, many more for you!

Hi Wadda, I hear ya too! I do think that SO was a typo, and he was asking for your OS, or Operating System... XP, Vista, or Windows 7?

If you have Windows XP, then you will need the .Net updates. I would advise to install them. I hope that helps you some now. ;)

Windows is trying and failing to update your computer by installing NET.Framework properly. That's why you're getting the repeated requests to update them.

Yes, prior to installing the NET.Framework versions (the 3 Windows updates) you need to remove possible remnants of the corrupted installs or updates of the ones that are already (perhaps partially) installed on your XP computer.

Therefore you need to download the tool (software program) from the link that I gave you in my previous post. Save it to your desktop for easy finding it later to run it.

Then you run that tool and follow the instructions. The tool will get rid of any corrupted remnants of all NET.Framework as explained above.

After that Windows should then install the needed NET.Framework on your machine without any problems.

If any problems with the execution of the above, I suggest that perhaps a relative, a friend or someone you know and is a bit more familiar with a computer to do the above.

See you can have Microsoft do it for you remotely but they charge $$ for any service that is not security related.
