Window XP doesn't power down

I have done the steps for removeing spyware. Now when I shut down windows xp home the screen does nothing. Press start-turnoff computer-shut down or log off. help

Do you have any info on what you might have on your computer?
If you think you might not reboot normally, I don't know if you should shut down your computer.
If you have done ALL the steps in the RUN & READ ME sticky in the Malware forum, then post over there.

To shut down your computer, just hold down the power button till it shuts off if you think it will reboot normally.
