    Hi all.

    I have a HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p239sa and a refurbished Dell 610 that I stupidly upgraded (?) to Win 10.

Both now fail to hold a connection to tinternet for more than say 30 mins, I use a Virgin SuperHub 2.

If however I am using P2P (Tixati) the connection drops every 2 mins.

I am trying to sort the HP first, it has a Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter.

HP have an update for it, but it does not solve Win 10 issues, I tried to roll it back, and the problem still exists.

Broadcom only have updates for Linux (that was all I could find anyway).

As you can imagine, this is starting to get VERY annoying.

I welcome any advise, other than 'roll back to Win 7' because face it, that would be admitting defeat !!

But yes, I am thinking of rolling back to my last OS Win 7...

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi

Do you have any yellow ! marks in device manager and if so what?
What security software are you using?
Have you tried booting into Safe Mode with Networking and seeing of that works longer than 30mins connection time?

With an upgrade from one windows version to another at times its well worth actually re-installing drivers for chipset, network and graphics even if you think there is no issues, as not always are they perfectly updated, found this out on an old ACER laptop I updated to Win10 the other week, updated Chipset and Graphics to the best available and all is running well now.

There are a couple of routes you can try if updating drivers doesn't help. First is a reset, either retaining or not retaining your files. After a reset you will have to reinstall any software you have loaded as it gives you a clean Windows, free of any stuff brought forward during the upgrade. If that doesn't work then you can start afresh with a proper clean install using the media creation tool but you MUST ensure your Win 10 is activated before doing so.

I've had a couple of systems exhibiting various problems after upgrading. One I rolled back to 7 and there it will stay, but the other I used the media creation tool to perform a clean install and it's vastly better than the upgrade though not perfect yet.

Firstly, thank you both for your replies.

    DavidGP first..

I have no yellow marks in device manager and use Bitdefender Free for security (I have had no security issues for many years).

I will try booting in safe mode and see how that goes, also your suggestion to reinstall chipset etc is a good idea.

    Earthling..

My Win 10 is activated and I have considered the reset and reinstall but don't want the hassle of installing everything again if there is another way. But yes, as last resort it is on my list of options.

It may take me a day or two to cover these suggestions as kids not at school over weekend so kind of busy with family stuff, but I will get back to you as to how this progresses.

Finally, how do you feel my security software is related to this Dave?

    Thanks again, speak soon...
