Windows 10 Anti Spy App Q Help

I loaded DWS _lite to try to keep some of the spying off my system .The version is 2 ..It's also set at a metered connection to stop the auto updates .Question is how do I find and can I do needed security updates.Do I even need them ? critical updates ?
Trying to make defender stays off ..I have bitdefinder and malware bites on a fresh windows 10 home install.
Any input help full .Please I need some one to walk me thru ....as I know just enough to screw something up !

System has been working great so far .Just purchaced a used dell inspiron 5010n I5 8 gig ram and slow ass vid card to get me by for now .Has been fast and very few dropped or freeze ups pages .SSSOOo far .

I'd use a far better, well-tested Windows 10 privacy software. My preference is O&O Shut Up 10

Question is what and how to do critical updates .Can I just pick one from a list ? Seams microsoft wants to down load it all at once .Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3172985 2nd is Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3174060) 3rd is Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3173428)
The first one I never could get it to install on my old system ....I'll try to install the flash player only but I have a hunch it wont let me pick one ..

You should be able to turn updates back on at any time you like, even if it is only to install some of them. You need to look at the user guide for that specific program. And the you tube I linked you to does discuss that program.
I choose not to block updates in Windows 10.
