Hello, and thank you for accepting my request! Very new to this so bear with me if I am not explaining this correctly...

I am trying to remove Windows 10 off a Lenova desktop and do a clean install of Windows 7 64bit which I have purchased and have the serial # but having alot of trouble. I have system image of 10 and all backup files on an external drive. I have all the drivers for the Lenova as well. When I loaded 7, it placed the files on the computer but when the main screen came up to enter location, etc the mouse and keyboard didn't work. I then got the usb download tool and that completed successfully and was finally able to continue the install, but when I got to the partition screen all the drives were unable to install due to a "reserved drive" I then tried to reset and clean off the hard drive option and now it can't do that or repair back to Windows 10 and obviously I can't load 7.

So, is there a way to wipe the hard drives/partitions clean from the bios screen, or DOS (if that is an option in 10?)?

Another thought was to use a system image I have from another computer that has 7 on it, but the manufactures of each computer are different, and not sure that would work (i.e sys image from an Acer to Lenovo using with a repair disc) given systems are different/drivers, etc

Any and all help would be GREATLY apperciated!

Thank you in advance for your time.

    Dave

Hi Dave - Welcome to Major Geeks

Please tell us the full and exact brand and model number of the Lenova Desktop and please say if it was purchased with Windows 10 installed.

ok its a Lenovo 700‑25ISH 90ED and it came with W10 pre installed, so 7 was never on it hence, no option to roll back to a previous version as if it were an update. TY :)

The difficulty you now have is the architecture of that desktop. It was built FOR Windows 10. Microsoft have warned constantly of trying to install later OSs on older architecture, and conversely trying to install an old and now out of mainstream support OS on totally different new architecture.
Personally, I would reinstall Windows 10 from a Microsoft download on a USB key and get used to Win 10. The Win 10 product key is already embedded in that system.
