Windows 10 not starting...

Borrowed neighbour's laptop.
Creating Recovery drive on USB stick.
Plan.
To boot not-starting HP laptop with recovery drive.
Open troubleshoot/start in safe mode.
run advance system care.
reboot.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I am confused...
The laptop will not start. It was fine last night when it was turned off.
The compaq 6910p has been happy with win10 for over a month.
It just does not turn on.
pressing f10 should open bios. It opens for a moment and then disappears. A black screen.
Want to change the bios to run the USB restore drive...

Needing help, Please.

How old is the laptop?
Is the power lead still functional and/or you have sufficient battery power?

For some reason the graphics driver messed up.
Starting in safe mode must reconfigure the display default thing.

I was going to say you need to download the graphics driver for windows 10 as mine went the same way when I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10.

 

Oh well. Anicca. The screen started a red tinge. I put it into safe mode but forgot that I couldn't see anything. The external monitor wasn't gooing to work in safe mode. The much overused Compaq 6910p screen is black. Couldn't see what to do to shut down. Held the power button down for 5 seconds. The laptop turned off.
Picked up a new screen via fleebay. Replacement screen for less than £14.

Still work to do.

1. It was reconditioned when I bought it three years ago.
2. Power lead - strengthened with electrical tape is true. I prefer removing the battery and booting from the mains.
