Windows 10 Pro -how Get Pictures To Show Up

I have Windows 10 Pro, but when I click on 'Windows Pictures" all that shows up for every photo is a symbol that looks like a blue mountain. When I click on them, the photo shows up, but I want to be able to see what the photo is 'before' I click on it.

Open any picture -click on view, click on options, -the first option, then in the small window that comes up, untick 'always show icons, not thumbnails' -you can apply there to all folders, if you wish

 

When I open a picture - the only words that show up with the photo are - View all photos - Share- Zoom- Slideshow- Draw- Edit- Rotate - ... At bottom of the screen only choices are Arrow pointing left - garbage can- Arrow pointing right.

 

Go to Control Panel -> File Explorer Options.
