I just bought a new laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad L340) and the operating system is Windows 10 Home S Mode. Is this something Windows just came out with and what is it? I found an article on the Windows website that says only apps from the Microsoft Store will work with S Mode. Is this true? Is there a way to remove S Mode so I can use other apps, like Avast, IOBit Malware and other non-Microsoft apps/programs?

Thank you, Eldon. I followed the steps and got rid of S Mode. Now in the process of downloading and installing all my security software and other programs. On that note, is it possible to remove Windows Defender? I use Avast Free Edition and IOBit Malware Fighter. Seems redundant to keep Defender.

    You can't remove Windows Defender.
When you install Avast Windows Defender will be disabled.

Thanks again. I thought that was the case but I wasn't sure.
