Windows 10 Start Button Stopped Working

I'm on my mother's computer - she's 87 and I'm her "tech support" - she said the Start button stopped working a long time ago. The Widows updates are current.

 

Good for her! Ask her to type cmd in Search and in the panel that pops up to click on Run as Administrator. If a User Account Control box pops up next, click on Yes. In the new box, next to C:\Windows\system32 > type sfc /scannow and press Enter. (There is a necessary space between sfc and /scannow). Hopefully that will sort it but let us know if not.

SFC shows no problems.

 

Have you seen what happens yourself, or is this just what your mom is telling you? If you have seen it yourself is there anything else you can tell us?
