Windows 10 Start Menu.

I have installed Classic Shell on my mom's Windows 10 laptop.
What are your thoughts?

 

I'm not voting since I'm on 8.1 not 10. But, I wouldn't use 8.1 if not for Classic Shell's Start Menu.

 

I use Classic Shell for both 8.1 and 10. I also used it for 8.0. It was ridiculous to have to go to Charms Bar -> Settings -> Power to shut down or restart the computer.

 

I hardly ever use the start menu so not much point installing a substitute. Programs I use a lot are pinned to both taskbar and desktop. I mostly just right click the taskbar icons as 99% of the time what I want is on the Recent popup.

 

Classic Shell with Windows 10 was a real game changer when I first installed it. I would not and did not like using
Windows 10 without it. I was so impressed and grateful for this utility, that I made a donation within hours of first use.

The Win 10 start menu search refuses to "find" portable executables. Every tweak to the indexing options fails to fix
this problem. It's a known issue that seems to be implemented by design, maybe for security reasons.

Classic Shell seems to fix this.

Some of the settings I've changed were not so obvious at first.

The line spacing in the Start menu was too large. That can be reduced by setting the Large icon size on the
Menu Look tab to a lower number. I used 22. Large icons is the default setting. That can be changed from the Skin tab.
I also chose Clear Type for Font Smoothing from the Menu Look tab.

I use the Windows 7 Start Menu Style.

 

Have 3 PCs with W 10 and IE.
Since the beginning I have only ever used Windows and IE as produced.
Vista was an irritant but bearable then along came '8' and spoiled my record as I ditched it and reverted to 7 until 8.1 appeared.

However I am now about to activate Edge as IE has finally reached the end of my patience and ability!
It's taken about 15 minutes to type/edit and post this!
For the first time 'I give in'!!!
