What is Microsoft thinking.Yet another reason why I will not upgrade. There are leaks stating that. They might start charging a monthly payment up to 100 dollar's a month.

There have been leaks stating this. There idea is to charge a monthly maintenance fee.Which in my opinion is totally B.S.It's bad enough they got all the spying going on and advertising. But no thank you.

In my opinion this is away for Microsoft to spy on you even further. They can look through your files with out you ever knowing about it.

Every one is probably going to start reverting there system back to windows 8 or vista or 7.

This is a Very BAD idea. This is called invasion of privacy. If you got personal stuff on your system buy a portable hard drive that can be removed.

I would say this is cumming pretty soon.Even though there is no set date on this. But still i would say some time next year.

On October 28, 2018, IBM announced its intent to acquire Red Hat for $34 billion. If this will be Redmond's way of competing in the future best of luck to them.

I agree bad model for general consumers but I had heard mainly this idea is for business, which would include multi licences and support.
I guess they are looking at Windows OS in same light as Office 365 model as TBH I'd not go Windows subscription but I find Office 365 is good value.

I doubt MS will ever go to a subscription service for the OS per se, but I can see them deeming more and more aspects of their current OS to not be standard, and to require them to be paid for as an "extra" . . . we might be left with a Windows OS that is little more than a internet browser and word processor. Hope I'm wrong.

I don't care for Windows 10 either . . . but as long as Windows is the most popular OS out there we will just have to put up with it. I am playing with Windows 10. I have used a few apps here that help disable some of the "spying" attributes of it, and have tailored it to look more like Windows 7. It's not too bad . . . but I prefer Windows 7.

Been playing with some Linux versions also. Currently using Linux on a NAS computer I put together.
