Windows 10

I am trying to reinstall windows 10 Pro on my.HP Pavilion 17-g121wm Notebook.

I have had pro on this befor but windows 10 is being a pain.

I was able to upgrade the ram to 16gigs from 8.But the problem is it's saying 7.45 usable and it's still saying it's Home version when i installed PRO.

Any ideas.

 

Oh and i have tried to install windows 11 on this laptop but major issue is the Brightness disappears. any idea how to fix that i mean no brightness control what so ever.

 

Laptops usually have keys (maybe Function and an "F" key) to control brightness, those don't work in 11?
The missing RAM is likely taken for video, but it wouldn't take half! Home can support 128GB RAM, depends on what your hardware can support.
Check Hp for BIOS and drivers?

 

I think the problem i am having is the UEFI and legacy so and i don't have multi - edtion installer.I disabled UEFI and legacy let's see how this goes.

Trying to fresh install.

 

The Home vs Pro - the installer is seeing a home key in the bios, you can supposedly change the key and the OS will change.
"You can fix this without a full reinstall by going to Settings > System > Activation > Change product key and entering your Windows Pro key."

 

this is the problem i am having.
