I have watched so many videos show removal of Win 11 Defender's removal of recent items as they build up.
I have changed UAC as directed, and followed file explorer's chain to the place where you delete. I have rebooted several times.
I cannot remove the recent items as shown in so many videos that I am wondering if it is my system. I have run SFC and DISM restore and still cannot remove the recent items in Defender protection.
Could you please offer a suggestion so I can accomplish this?
I did read that many people had trouble with this and some had to reboot several times.
I know it's not necessary but I would like to remove that huge pile of blocks that have done me good and start over.

Can't seem to remove Defender history in Win 10 either.

I have windows 11 but they say it doesn’t matter, 10 or 11 should do. I’m sorry you don’t have any success with it but it makes me feel a little better about my system. I hope somebody can jump in with an answer as my list is getting pretty long.

To remove the history of detected items, remove the DetectionHistory folder from:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Service\DetectionHistory

To remove the protected folders and memory blocked history, you need to delete the mpenginedb.db file at:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\mpenginedb.db

The mpenginedb.db file is locked by Windows Defender. To delete it, use the command prompt in Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), disable Windows Defender with Sordum's Defender Control (you have to set up an exclusion in Defender to use it) or use Delete.On.Reboot

It worked - after deleting the two file/folder stated above! An alternative to disabling Windows Defender, I deleted these two items using "File Unlocker" instead (an app that I already have) - upon system restart. Thanks, _nullptr!

    After > [C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Service\DetectionHistory],
I had no detection history folder-after service it was blank. Does that mean I have something wrong with my pc?

I did not go further b/c removing these recent issues was my goal.
    Should I run a repair?
